Mr. Mohammad Nasim, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Health and Family welfare reaffirmed his consent to give all out support on implementation of TC Law and gave his strong back-up about the pictorial warnings on Tobacco Products. Packing should be according to the Smoking and Tobacco Usage (Control) act 2005.

​On 3rd January, 2016 Leaders of Anti-Tobacco organizations under the leadership of Mr. Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, Senior Vice President, NATAB met with Mr. Mohammad Nasim, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Health and Family welfare. Dr. Samnun Taha,Treasurer, NATAB; Mr. Khairuddin Ahmed Mukul Acting Secretary General,  NATAB; Associate Professor Dr. Asif Mujtaba Mahmud, Member, NATAB; Mr. Mohammad Kamaluddin, Executive Director, NATAB;  Mr. Saifuddin Ahmed, Executive Director WBB Trust; Advocate Mahbubul Alam, Technical Adviser, The Union; Mr. Aminul Islam Bakul, Executive Director, AID;  Syeda Ananna Rahman, Program Manager, WBB Trust  and A. K.M. Khalil Ullah, Project Manager NATAB Tobacco Control Project, were in the team.

And also Mr. Jahid Malik, Honorable Sate Minister,  Ministry of Health and Family welfare; Mrs. Roxana Kader, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Professor Dr. Iqbal Arsnal, Secretary General, BMA, Dr. Ruhul Quddus, Joint Secretary & Program Coordinator, NTCC Prof Dr Deen Muhammad Nurul Haque, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) from the government health division were present.

Leaders of the Anti-Tobacco organizations discussed with Honorable Minister on implementation of TC Law and also delayed attitude of Tobacco Companies to print Pictorial Warnings by violation of Smoking and Tobacco Usage (Control) act 2005 on Box of Tobacco products. Leaders also pointed in their discussion on the cultivation of tobacco, increasing day by day in fertile lands where food grain cultivation is much more needed.

Again, participants reiterated to reduce the use of tobacco products in Bangladesh. It is very important to control tobacco cultivation and the strong enforcement is needed.  Honorable Minister assured to give all out support and to act on the above issues.

In conclusion, Mr. Mozaffar Hossain Paltu conveyed his thanks and appreciations to the Honorable Minister for introducing a very unique measure which is not to allow any student or even doctors to pursue their studies without submitting a genuine certificate about their tobacco and drug free habits.
